Leeds United have lost three of their last four matches in the Premier League and will be hoping to head into the international break off the back of a positive result.

The Whites travel away from Elland Road to take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday, after they were beaten 3-0 by Brighton last time out in the division.

Daniel Farke’s side have failed to score in four of their five away matches in the Premier League so far this season, and they need more than just Noah Okafor to step up in the final third.

The £18m signing from AC Milan has provided a spark at the top end of the pitch this season, with two goals and one ‘big chance’ created in six league starts, per Sofascore.

Okafor, who completed five dribbles against Brighton, scored an excellent goal in the club’s only away win in the Premier League so far this season, utilising his pace, composure, and quality to find the back of the net against Wolves.

The Switzerland international is the club’s joint-top scorer in the league, alongside Joe Rodon, and the top scorer from open play, which speaks to how important he is to Farke’s side at this moment in time.

However, the fact that no other forward in the squad has produced more than one goal in the Premier League so far this season is a cause for concern moving forward, as it suggests that the manager does not have many reliable options in the final third.

Fakre could, though, unearth his next version of Okafor by finally unleashing the rarely-seen Wilfried Gnonto as a starter against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

The Italy U21 international returned from a calf injury ahead of the clash with Brighton, per the manager, but he was not included in the matchday squad for that game, which means that he has not featured in a game since the 1-0 loss to Fulham in the middle of September.

Gnonto has only played four times in the Premier League so far this season, per Sofascore, and this means that the rarely-seen star has not had too many opportunities to prove that he can make a positive impact in the top-flight.

The Italian winger’s form in the Championship in the 2024/25 campaign suggests that there is more to come from him than the zero goals and zero assists that he has managed so far this term.

As you can see in the table above, Gnonto ranked among the best wingers in the second tier when it came to scoring and assisting goals last season, despite only starting 26 of his 43 appearances in the league.

The 22-year-old talent, who was once described as “explosive” by U23 scout Antonio Mango, has the potential to be an Okafor-esque player for the Whites if he can finally carry his output over to the Premier League.

When the Whites were last in the top-flight, Gnonto produced two goals and four assists in 14 starts as a teenage winger, per Sofascore, which shows that he can make an impact at that level when he is at his best.

It is now down to Farke to help him hit those heights again by finally unleashing him on the right wing now that he is fit and available for selection, because the youngster is an electric winger who can be a difference-maker like Okafor if Leeds can get him firing.

One of the poster boys of English football, Arsenal’s talisman has suffered an injury-disrupted start to the campaign, but three goals across all competitions and a sumptuous strike for England on Thursday evening underscore his world-class credentials.

That left-footed strike is something we’ve seen before.

He’s the cream of the crop, but it has been a plentiful harvest for Hale End over the past few years, with more than a few elite prospects underlaying Mikel Arteta’s ever-improving senior set-up.

An initialo £60m fee was spent to bring the 27-year-old Eberechi Eze back home this summer after so many years away, and the former Crystal Palace man looks to have been an astute signing for a side challenging for the biggest prizes.

It’s not always Arsenal let homegrown talents slip through their fingers, though, with Ethan Nwaneri still going from strength to strength as he looks to nail down a place in Arteta’s wider and grander plans.

And how could we forget Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has played the left-back berth with such consummate ease since breaking into the first team last season.

The 19-year-old has already chalked up 46 senior showings for the Gunners, and he has made his first three caps for the Three Lions.

Powerful and talented on the ball, Lewis-Skelly’s versatility and confidence have already seen him rise to the fore and become a Premier League star. Youth coach Jack Wilshere has long marvelled at how he is “unplayable” when fit and firing on all cylinders, but the translation to life on the senior stage has probably surpassed even the retired Gunner’s expectations.

However, ‘MLS’ is naturally a central midfielder, and there’s no guarantee he will not find his way back into the engine room permanently in the coming years.

With this in mind, Arsenal may rue Edu’s decision to cash in on another academy graduate who has earned praise for his quality.

Edu cashed in on "England's future left-back"

Edu left Arsenal 11 months ago, and Andrea Berta’s start to life in his stead as the Emirates technical director has suggested that the right move was made.

It’s futile keeping track of all the up-and-coming hopefuls, but one who might come back to bite Edu and Arsenal is Lino Sousa, who flourished through his academy years in north London but was sold to Aston Villa for a small fee in January 2024.

Now 20 years old, the England U19 international, who is also eligible for Portugal, is a natural talent when out wide but showed an aptitude in learning to invert, something Lewis-Skelly has done with aplomb over the past months.

Yet to feature for Unai Emery’s Villans, Sousa has been steadily cutting his teeth, spending the latter half of the 2023/24 campaign out on loan in the Championship with Plymouth Argyle before heading out again to Bristol Rovers last term, where his success in the duel caught the eye.

There’s certainly work still to be done, but the nuts and bolts of the talent’s skillset are there. Though he took a step down the ladder last season, the full-back demonstrated a raised level of confidence and quality regardless.

There’s no doubting Sousa’s potential. Still, there is an anticipation that he will pull it all together and make headway on the professional stage. Indeed, analyst Ben Mattinson has even gone as far as to suggest the teenager could be “England’s future left-back”.

Athletic, pacy and blessed with a mean crossing ability, Sousa has the talent to rise to the top, and it’s worth issuing a reminder that development in football is often a non-linear thing. Lewis-Skelly’s today might be Sousa’s tomorrow.

But Arteta lives in the now, even though the sharp-witted Spaniard keeps a side-eye on the future.

Whether the Londoners come to regret their decision to part ways with Sousa remains to be seen. He featured 53 times for the club’s respective development sides, after all, and notched eight goal contributions.

Aged 17, he was promoted to the Europa League matchday squad as Arsenal took on Swiss side FC Zurich in 2022, but the meteoric rise over the past three terms emphasises the ruthlessness needed and shown. Arsenal have eclipsed expectations, and with that comes some sacrifices.

Ultimately, Edu had his shortcomings, and Sousa was perhaps a victim of the realities of breaking onto the senior stage when informed he would be leaving his boyhood club, having failed to make a single appearance for the men’s team.

But given that Lewis-Skelly has been in such fine fettle and plays at the highest level, it’s not something Arteta and co are likely to lose much sleep over.

Given the size of the club and their incredible success over the last 20 years or so, some truly world-class players have represented Chelsea.

The likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard, and Didier Drogba are not club legends, but icons of the Premier League as a whole.

However, one player who might not always get the full respect he deserves from rival fans, but is adored at Stamford Bridge, is Eden Hazard.

The Belgian wizard was magical to watch at his best, and in good news, it looks like Chelsea might have a player on their books who could eclipse even his time at the club, and no, it’s not Cole Palmer.

Hazard's Chelsea career in numbers

Hazard joined Chelsea from French outfit LOSC Lille for around £32m in the summer of 2012, just a few weeks after they won their first Champions League.

It didn’t take long for the mercurial ace to settle, as he provided an assist in his first Premier League game for the club and ended the season with a sensational haul of 13 goals and 23 assists in 62 games and a Europa League medal.

It was more of the same the following year, as he racked up 25 goal involvements in 49 games for the club, although the year after that, in the 14/15 season, he transformed into an undeniably world-class superstar.

In that season, the La Louvière-born game-changer was utterly unplayable, and by the time the final game had finished, he had scored 19 goals, provided 13 assists, won the league and league cup and was named Player of the Year.

It’d be a similar story just two years later as the 34-year-old’s 21 goal involvements in 36 league games helped the West Londoners clinch another title, something they’ve not done since.

By the time Hazard left Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, he had played 352 games for the club, in which he scored 110 goals and provided 88 assists.

It’s hard to imagine many players even coming close to such a CV, but football is forever evolving, and there is a certain youngster in Enzo Maresca’s squad who looks like he could match or exceed the Belgian’s Chelsea record.

The Chelsea gem who could eclipse Hazard

Now, there is certainly an argument to be made that Palmer could one day eclipse Hazard’s Chelsea record, but in this instance, there is another even younger talent who looks like he could do the same.

That youngster is, of course, Estevao, who finally joined the squad in the summer after being signed from Palmeiras for around £29m last summer.

The Brazilian had to wait a full year due to regulations regarding foreign players under the age of 18, but the fact that the Blues were still keen to splash the cash on him is an indication of just how highly rated he is.

In fact, while it is absurdly early, respected analyst Ben Mattinson has already made his feelings on the teenager clear, labelling him a “future Ballon d’Or winner.”

While it is likely going to be some time before the 18-year-old is seriously considered for the prestigious prize, he is already making quite the impression this season.

For example, when he came off the bench for Pedro Neto against Liverpool, the “world-class” prospect, as dubbed by scout Jacek Kulig, he helped to change the game for his side.

His constant desire to run at opposition defenders and incredible technical ability made life hell for Andy Robertson, and then, finally, thanks to his positioning, he got the winning goal late on.

However, the game against the Reds wasn’t the Franca-born gem’s first impressive display this season, as he has consistently impressed off the bench.

Moreover, when he started against West Ham United, he provided an assist for Joao Pedro.

Ultimately, Estevao might only have two goal involvements for Chelsea at the moment, but it genuinely feels like the club has a world-class player on their hands, and should he achieve what Mattinson claims he will, then he’ll also surpass Hazard’s record in blue.

وأشار: “يمكنك أن ترى من التشكيلة التي اخترتها اليوم أنني لم أقرر إراحة سوى اللاعبين الذين لعبوا بشكل أساسي في الأسبوع الماضي، هذه هي التشكيلة التي نحصل عليها، وهذا يوضح أننا بالفعل لدينا بعض الإصابات، ومع اقتراب أسبوع حاسم، شعرت أن هذا هو القرار الأفضل”.

وأفاد: “إلى جانب ذلك، لطالما اختار هذا النادي في بطولة كأس الرابطة أن يمنح فرصة اللعب للاعبين الشباب من أكاديمية النادي أيضًا، تشكيلتنا ليست كبيرة بالحجم الذي يتوقعه الناس، ولم يتغير نهجنا في هذا الأمر”.

واستأنف: “لست متأكدًا تمامًا من صحة ما تقوله (حول اختيار التشكيلة)، لأنه عندما لعبنا ضد وست هام (في كأس كاراباو الموسم الماضي)، لا أعتقد أن محمد صلاح كان على مقاعد البدلاء. لكن ربما أكون مخطئًا، أنت محق، لكنني لا أعتقد أنه كان كذلك، قبل عام، فعلتُ ذلك، وفعلنا الشيء نفسه، لكن ربما بدت التشكيلة مختلفة”.

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola believes Phil Foden is "the best player we have in small spaces by far" while explaining how big a boost the Englishman's return to form is for his team. The 25-year-old has been deployed in a new-look No.10 role, which sees him operate closer to the box, and the change in how his position has provided highly positive results immediately.

  A reporter asked Guardiola, "When Phil's playing at the standard he is now, how much more does he give this unit as a team?" 

  "A lot," said Guardiola in response, before praising Foden and explaining what makes him such a threat. "He’s one of the best players we have in small spaces in the final third, by far,” the City coach claimed. “In terms of assists and in terms of goals in small spaces, how he times an attack and the desire to score a goal is the best we have.”

  After his hat-trick heroics, Alvarez directly addressed the controversy in a post-match interview.

  "The words they said… The lip-reading they did had nothing to do with what I'd said. I swore and he was angry with me, to be honest," he said. "This always happens with social media, but it's all good. Let's keep improving so we don't drop points along the way."

  He admitted frustration at being subbed but stressed it was aimed at himself, not Simeone, dismissing the online storm as a misunderstanding blown out of proportion.
