Leeds United are not looking to sign former midfielder Ronaldo Vieira this month, according to The Mirror’s David Anderson.

The Lowdown: Italian reports

The Whites are looking to bring in two midfielders before the end of the month, with numerous updates emerging from Italy regarding Vieira.

The 23-year-old has recently returned to Sampdoria’s matchday squad following a lengthy period out through injury, with reports towards the end of 2021 suggesting Vieira was ‘ready to return home’ with his bags packed.

A recent story went as far as to say Leeds are ready to sign Vieira over the coming weeks, however, it doesn’t seem as if that will materialise after all.

Anderson took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to provide an update on the Englishman.

This is what he had to say, revealing the Whites are not making a move for Vieira.

“I know Leeds fans would rather hear who they are trying to sign, but it is my understanding that they are not attempting to re-sign old boy Ronaldo Vieira.”

The Verdict: Correct call?

Leeds currently have Kalvin Phillips and Jamie Shackleton out injured, leaving them with just two out-and-out midfielders available.

Vieira’s last competitive appearance came way back in February though, so it wouldn’t make sense to bring an injury-hit midfielder to rescue Leeds’ injury-hit squad.

There’s no denying that the Whites need additions in the middle of the pitch before the month is out, however, they need to be the correct ones in both the short and long term, so it seems to be the right move to not pursue Vieira going off his recent injury woes.

كان أمام مهاجم مانشستر يونايتد حتى يوم الإثنين للرد على الاتهام، ومن المقرر الآن خوض جلسة استماع مع الهيئة الإدارية لكرة القدم الإنجليزية.

وحذرت الشرطة رونالدو في أغسطس الماضي بعد تحقيق في الحادث، وبعد ذلك بدأ الاتحاد الإنجليزي تحقيقه الخاص.

وجاءت هذه الحادثة بعد هزيمة يونايتد 1-0 أمام إيفرتون في جوديسون بارك في أبريل، بينما كان رالف رانجنيك لا يزال في مهمة مؤقتة في أولد ترافورد.

وقال المدرب إريك تين هاج، يوم الأربعاء، إن يونايتد سيدافع عن رونالدو ضد أي إيقاف كعقوبة على الحادث، وقال: “تحدثنا عن ذلك ولن يقبل به”.

وبدا أن تصريحات مدرب يونايتد تشير في البداية إلى أن رونالدو سيطعن على تهمة الاتحاد الإنجليزي.

وأوضحت المصادر، حسبما ذكرت صحيفة “إندبندنت” الإنجليزية، أن اللاعب البالغ من العمر 37 عامًا قد قبل التهمة وسيدافع ببساطة عن نفسه ضد عقوبة الإيقاف.

يواجه رونالدو خطر الإيقاف لعدة مباريات إذا ثبت أنه يخالف قاعدة الاتحاد الإنجليزي رقم E3 فيما يتعلق بالسلوك العنيف أو غير اللائق.

وتعهد يونايتد بدعم رونالدو في بيان للنادي، صدر الشهر الماضي، جاء فيه: “نلاحظ إعلان الاتحاد الإنجليزي فيما يتعلق بكريستيانو رونالدو، سندعم اللاعب ردًا على التهمة”.

Anil Kumble, the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, has said Jacques Kallis’ slow batting was one of the factors that led to his team’s 13-run defeat against Deccan Chargers in Nagpur.”He [Kallis] has won us a couple of games earlier but today he got stuck,” Kumble said after the game. “He should have gone after the bowling in the first six overs but it did not happen today. He should have made a move-on which did not happen today and that put pressure on the guys coming in. You can’t expect someone like Robin [Uthappa] to see you through [every time].”Chasing a target of 152 on a pitch that was getting slower, it was imperative for Bangalore to make a good start. However, Manish Pandey fall first ball and Kallis crawled to a 37-ball 27 that put pressure on the rest.Kallis struggled for timing even as Rahul Dravid raised the momentum with a classy 49. However Dravid fell, holing out to long off, and left Bangalore needing 78 from 58 balls. We were on course till the ninth or tenth over and losing from that stage is really disappointing.”Kumble’s counterpart, Adam Gilchrist, said he knew 151 was a defendable total. “We experienced a couple of awkward chases in the previous two games. We never felt like, “Wow small total, we are going to cruise here”. It’s a difficult wicket to play the big shots. I wasn’t disappointed to bat first. It was the third time the pitch was used and it was always going to be difficult.”Gilchrist praised the efforts of Ojha and Harmeet Singh and said the large boundaries also played a part. “It felt good to play with a full-size boundary. It adds another dimension to Twenty20 cricket. I would encourage all of them to have full-size boundaries wherever possible.”Kumble agreed with Gilchrist’s view. “Yes, it [ground size] does matter. But when you have to get 8 or 9 nine runs in an over, you need to play proper cricketing shots to clear the boundary. You can’t say that if this match happened in Bangalore then the ball would have gone for a six instead of getting caught on the boundary line.”Gilchrist is the only Deccan batsman who hasn’t contributed significantly and he cited his form as one of the areas of improvement. “There is no denying that. I haven’t thought about demoting myself lower in the order,” he said. “I got a pretty good first ball. I will keep working hard. I have faith that I will contribute to the team at some stage. I have played enough cricket to learn not to worry about my form.”

Até na única goleada da temporada, o jogo não teve tranquilidade. Isso porque o placar elástico foi construído já acréscimos da partida e contou com o brilho dos jovens revelados nas divisões de base do clube. Após abrir o placar no primeiro tempo, o Vasco levou sufoco do Vitória até sofrer o empate, aos 25 da segunda etapa. Porém, quatro minutos depois o Cruz-Maltino virou com Thalles. Quando o time baiano estava todo no ataque tentando mais uma vez a igualdade, Paulo Vitor e Guilherme Costa deram números finais ao placar aos 46 e 49 minutos, respectivamente.

O principal fator para tantos jogos apertados este ano foi a baixa produção ofensiva. Com pouca criatividade, tinha jogos em que o Vasco pouco criava, e nas partidas em que conseguia boas chances de gols, pecava no momento da finalização.

ومنح الجهاز الفني للفريق بقيادة البرتغالي جوسفالدو فيريرا، الرباعي محمد طارق وحسام أشرف ومحمد حسام بيسو والسيد عطية حارس المرمى، راحة من التدريبات الجماعية التي أقيمت على ملعب عبد اللطيف أبو رجيلة بمقر النادي.

ويأتي ذلك بسبب مشاركتهم مع فريق النادي مواليد 2001 في مباراته أمام البنك الأهلي اليوم الأحد في الجولة الثالثة لبطولة الجمهورية، والتي انتهت بفوز الأبيض بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدفين.

وفضل الجهاز الفني إراحتهم منعًا لتعرضهم للإجهاد، على أن ينتظم الرباعي في تدريبات الغد.

و‎شهدت تدريبات الزمالك تخصيص فقرة بدنية وتأهيلية قوية للاعبين استعدادًا لمواجهة سموحة المقبلة.

وشارك في هذه الفقرة التي استمرت لمدة تقترب من 20 دقيقة جميع اللاعبين، وخاضوا تدريبات تأهيلية وبدنية متنوعة، سواء باستخدام أدوات التأهيل أو من خلال الكرة.

وقام الجهاز الفني برفع الحمل البدني للاعبين خلال الحصة التأهيلية، ضمن البرنامج التدريبي الموضوع استعدادًا لمواجهة سموحة المقبلة في مسابقة الدوري الممتاز.

وانتظم محمود حمدي الونش مدافع الفريق في التدريبات الجماعية، عقب انتهاء اللاعب من البرنامج التأهيلي الذي وضعه الجهاز الطبي له خلال الفترة الماضية.

ويُعاني المدافع الدولي من إصابة عضلية وغاب بسببها عن المشاركة في مباراتي فلامبو البوروندي بدوري أبطال إفريقيا.

وشارك الونش في الحصة التأهيلية والبدنية، بجانب الفقرات الفنية والخططية والتقسيمة، لتتأكد جاهزيته من الناحية الطبية للفترة المقبلة.

وأدى عبدالله جمعة الظهير الأيسر للفريق المرحلة الأخيرة من البرنامج التأهيلي الموضوع له، لتجهيزه للمشاركة بشكل كامل في التدريبات الجماعية للفريق الأبيض خلال الفترة المقبلة. 

وخاض جمعة بعدها تدريبات تأهيلية منفردة بالكرة تحت قيادة أندريه فيليب سوزا مخطط الأحمال بالفريق.

ويسعي الجهاز الفني للفريق لتجهيز اللاعب بالشكل الأمثل، للمشاركة في التدريبات الجماعية خلال الفترة المقبلة .

يذكر أن عبدالله جمعة كان يعاني خلال الفترة السابقة من إصابة بكدمة في أنكل القدم، وغاب بسببها عن المباريات الأخيرة للفريق .

With the future of Portuguese sensation Jota still rather unclear, it would be a good idea for Celtic and Ange Postecoglou to target some alternatives.

It’s thought the Hoops have an agreement with Benfica to land the forward for £6.5m but whether he does actually decide to sign on the dotted line in Glasgow for a longer stay remains to be seen.

What’s the word?

Fortunately, Celtic do have one potential trick up their sleeve with Iranian international Mehdi Ghayedi linked with a move to Scotland.

Yet, there could be another player still in their crosshairs from last year; Siriki Dembele.

The Peterborough attacker has been a long-term target for Celtic and could be on the move this year according to various reports.

Football League World claimed ten days ago that Posh were willing to let some of their key players, including Dembele, walk away.

Football Insider then reported this weekend that the Championship side had rejected two offers for the 25-year-old from Bournemouth.

Better than Abada

After the arrival of Daizen Maeda this January, it’s not as though Celtic are crying out for new offensive players.

Yet, with Jota’s future up in the air, the idea of signing Dembele could become a very real possibility.

Previously a target when Peterborough were in League One, he’s now enjoying life in the second tier where he has continued to show what he’s all about.

The brother of Karamoko Dembele has scored five times and also registered two assists, showing an ability to adapt to a better division.

It was in the third tier where he really made his name, scoring 11 and assisting 12 on his way to achieving promotion last term. All of that has seen him take his senior tally to an impressive 34 strikes.

Those types of numbers are incredibly eye-catching and with Liel Abada enduring a rather topsy-turvy stint in Scotland so far, Dembele would surely represent an upgrade.

Abada scores a delightful goal in the cup on Saturday against Alloa Athletic and is in a solid run of form at the moment, bagging twice against St Johnstone prior to the winter break.

A tally of 11 goals and eight assists is eye-catching this term but it doesn’t tell the full story of someone who has ultimately been inconsistent.

After all, between early October and the middle of December, the Israeli failed to score in nine consecutive league outings.

Dembele, however, has proven his consistency in the past and also has an abundance of tricks in his locker.

Hailed for his “dazzling” dribbling by Barry Fry, he’d have the ability to beat defenders on a far more regular basis than Abada. The Posh forward has registered a mighty 2.7 successful dribbles per game this term compared to the 0.6 achieved by Celtic’s summer signing.

As a result, Postecoglou could discover an increased sense of dynamism in his squad by making a late swoop for Dembele; it may just make the difference in their bid to win the title.

O Palmeiras definiu a venda de Leandro para o Kashima Antlers (JAP). O atacante já assinou a rescisão de seu contrato com o Verdão e após as festas de fim de ano volta ao Japão para assinar com a equipe asiática, pela qual jogou nesta temporada emprestado. Os valores ainda não foram revelados.

Leandro tinha contrato com o Palmeiras até dezembro de 2018 e voltaria em janeiro. Só que a vontade do atleta, que gostou muito da vida no Japão e tem se destacado, sempre foi permanecer por lá.

Com 30 jogos, 12 gols e seis assistências pelo Kashima, Leandro foi um dos destaques do time, vice-campeão japonês. A equipe acabou batida pelo campeão Kawasaki Frontale no saldo de gols.

Leandro foi um dos jogadores emprestados pelo Grêmio ao Palmeiras na negociação que levou Hernán Barcos para Porto Alegre no início de 2013. Foi titular, campeão da Série B e artilheiro do Verdão naquele ano, com 19 gols em 43 jogos. Chegou a disputar um amistoso pela Seleção Brasileira de Luiz Felipe Scolari, contra a Bolívia, e marcou um gol. Tudo isso motivo o clube a comprar 64% de seus direitos econômicos por R$ 8 milhões.

O dinheiro foi todo aportado por Paulo Nobre, então presidente do Palmeiras, que tem direito a receber o valor de volta quando a venda for consumada. Se a negociação sair por mais de R$ 8 milhões, o clube fica com o excedente.

Leandro não conseguiu repetir o bom desempenho em 2014, quando marcou apenas três gols em 34 jogos. Foi emprestado ao Santos em 2015, ao Coritiba em 2016 e ao Kashima Antlers em 2017.
